Your title is misleading. According to the article posted, they are re-branding their products (Internet, cable, phone) under this 'Xfinity' name NOT the entire company. The Comcast brand will still exist as the name for the corporation.

The company will retain the
Comcast corporate name and it will still be featured, along with the
Xfinity brand, on its service trucks and other areas.

It's won't be long before they change the company name afterwards. If the XFinity brand works they can formality change their legal business name, and if it doesn't, they can change their service name back to Comcast.
